Howard Stern brilliantly and hilariously slams anti-gay bigots Bachmann, Santorum

Howard Stern

I came across this recent broadcast recording (retweeted beyond-the-beyond on Twitter, which much thanks to @Rosie) and thought that – like yesterday’s brief post on Mayor Cory Booker – I would share it here.

Whether you are a Howard Stern fan or not, this is well-worth the full viewing/listening (it is quite short).

Stern – joined by co-host Robin Quivers – makes some truthful, blunt points concerning the social demonization faced by gay teens and adults alike while justifiably blasting the bigotry coming out of the Republican party and religious groups across the country; factions that are steadfastly preaching hate and prejudice wherever and whenever they can without being called out on their words and actions.

Stern: “The amazing thing to me – I’m watching these debates, the Republican debates –  this Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum, they are the two worst people on the planet. They get up wherever they can and they still feel comfortable getting up in front of an audience in 2012 and fucking saying shit about gays..start to spew this horse shit about gay people..”

Quivers: “And nobody says anything.”

Stern: “Say anything? They applaud! There should be shoes flying, [Bachmann and Santorum] should be drummed out of the country…they should be ignored, shunned and treated as lunatics. Because that’s bullshit. It’s just bullshit. If it were blacks, if it were Jews, if it was any – Catholics – anybody getting up there and saying ‘I don’t think these people should be allowed’…and this Rick Santorum with the fucking vests, he’s standing there and he acts like he doesn’t know any gay people and he’s full of shit that he’s gonna ‘convert them’…Michele Bachmann’s wearing her designer outfit that a gay man probably designed, I don’t know how these fuckers are able to walk around the street with any kind of dignity.”

Quivers: “It’s because there’s the ‘Million Mom’ group…’One Million Moms’ or something..”

Stern: Yeah, ‘One Million Moms’ and what’s their slogan? ‘No Homo’… ‘No Homo Momo’ or some dumb fuck…”

Quivers: “‘No Homo No Mo.”

Stern: “…and it’s still allowable. It’s still an accepted bigotry. And the Catholic Church does it, and Orthodox Jews do it, and our politicians do it, they all blast gays and they still think it’s okay…I mean come on, we got one shot at life. As far as I know, you don’t come back again. You wanna make some fourteen year old girl kill herself? What are you, fucking nuts?…It’s hard enough getting through life. [Gays are] the one[s] in America – you’re still allowed to get your fucking ass kicked everyday by fucking middle-class soccer moms who are gonna sit there – because they’re so fucking ugly they can’t get laid they’re gonna sit there and take it out on gay teens, you fuckers.”

Quivers: “It’s scapegoating. That’s exactly what it is. ‘My life sucks and it’s all your fault.’”

Stern: “And whose to blame? The only one you can get away with now, and it’s gays, and its gotta stop. It’s gotta stop. It’s fucking ridiculous.”

Right on, Howard. I’m not a fan either (not anti-Stern, just don’t care) but I know when I hear truth. Santorum and Bachmann are dangerous pseudo-Christian homophobes and deserve nothing but contempt and derision.

Their policies, like so many of the religious right, hare completely antithetical to the message their religion claims to espouse – yet the vast majority of their followers both profess to be Christians AND support rabidly anti-Christian ideas about blacks, gays, Catholics, Muslims, science and fact. This makes no logical sense, but it is the nature of the ignorant to be manipulated easily, which is why “You’ve gotta have FAITH” is such a religious staple, and  why ALL Republicans want to de-fund public education. A stupid populace is an easily-led populace, and makes for greater PROFIT. And SEX is the big control button. Control a man in the bedroom and you control his every action (And don’t worry about the woman, she’s only chattel anyway.)

Many of Santorum’s real victims of course, are the children who suicide because of parent/minister/police/neighbor pressure. But the young adults who didn’t kill themselves are still made to feel inferior and ashamed, thereby forever stunting their chances for personal success – a success which would also benefit the nation, but who cares about that? Certainly not the religious homophobes and bigots currently being paraded before us as “candidates.”

They ARE candidates – but not for public office. I recommend we spend some lobbyist money to built a suitable government facility for housing dangerous sociophobes. We’ll call it the Rick Sanatorium.

Thanks for the comment! You are unfortunately spot-on in your assessment that “religious homophobes and bigots” are in fact  ”being paraded before us as ‘candidates.’” And the sdcary part is – to Stern’s point – that they are STILL not being called out on it on a national level nor are they getting shunned from the national dialogue. Instead, huge numbers of equally bigoted or simply apathetic people follow their charge in lock-step.

Yeah, he pretty much nailed that one. I don’t typically condone politio-comparisons to Nazis (that is just oo Fox-Newsy for me) but in this situation it DOES fit quite well.

Right on,Howie!!!!!(Oh,and Happy, though 20 days belated-60th birthday, pardner!!!!!!)These homophbic a**-clowns-you can add the “Duck Die-Nasty” dudes as well-are ugly, dumb (plenty of studies show that right-wingers are FAR LESS INTELLIGENT than lefties;two exam-
ples;Toronto Mayor “Slob” Ford,New Jersey Gov./popinjay Chris Christie)
and, passive-aggressive,slave-like to their one-one-thousandth of one percent benefactors and judgmental towards the indigent, working class and even middle class,as witness the minimum wage debate.
Worse,as did their forbears a half-century ago to justify racial segregation and oppression of African Americans, these Troglodytes use Biblical Scripture to buttress their anti-gay,anti-labour,and misogynistic opinions.I think,FINALLY,people are awakening to the destructiveness of these reactionaries’ platform, and the rest of the 2010S-AND THE BEGINNING OF THE 2020s should be VERY INTERESTING!!!!!(R.I.P.
    my lad Pete Seeger!!!!!)
